Hey guys
Im looking in to buying an after market rear sway bar and from what i can see only people say that the progress rear sway bar is the pick for performance, Iv checked Progress sway bars out and can only find
03-07 Honda Accord Rear anti-sway bar
90-97 Honda Accord Rear anti-sway bar
09-13 Acura TSX (incl wagon) / 08-13 Honda Accord Rear anti-sway bar.
So if people say this is the best sway bar for our 6th gen accord which one is the one to fit my 99 accord V6?
or can i get a link or info for the sway bar they might be talking about?
Also if anyone else knows of other good quality sway bars for the 99 accord id really appreciate it if you post up the brands, shops or links to help me find a good sway bar set up for me.
thanks heaps

It's one of the best, but it's personal preference. Depending on your suspension set up, the preformance may vary. Maybe not dragistically but there will be a difference.

Most people go with the OEM 3G TL 6MT bar (20mm) since it’s a great upgrade for the money. But the Progress bar for the 3G TL (24mm) is even better, though pricier. Both bolt right on, though sometimes i4 exhausts have a little clearance issue. You can try to keep the OEM endlinks in use, but it’s easier to go with Moog or something else.

Lots of info on RSB’s here: http://www.6thgenaccord.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28529

Next time please search.

yeah i had already searched and when i tryed checking out the brands in that thread they didnt seam to make a bar for our 6th gen accords so i was confused as to which one you could have been referring to.
I still am a bit. I messaged progress n they say they dont even make a sway bar for our model n im not sure what you mean bout the 04 TL RSB? Is that just a stock honda accord 04 model sway bar or what? Sorry i must sound dumb, Maybe if you could post a link to these sway bars id be greatly appreciated.
And in that thread they talk bout the front sway bars, it looks as tho the stock honda bar on our 6th gen accords is about as good as the aftermarket ones, all being bout 27mm. is that correct?

There is no Progress bar made specifically for a 98-02 Accord, someone test fitted a Progress bar for an Acura TL on their 6GA and it fit. So people started putting bars made for the TL on these cars, including the 24mm Progress and the 20mm bar that came stock on 04-08 6MT TL's. Not everyone invests R&D in a car as old as this, unless it's a popular platform w/good aftermarket support.

Don't know anything about Speed Tech, if it's solid (not hollow) then it would be a good bar. I don't know what car you have, but the stock bar on the V6 6GA coupes is 17mm. In which case 19mm makes a difference, but for the money you can't beat the 20mm OEM TL bar. And the 24mm is worth the cash.

ok thanks heaps mate. that really explained things well. If i went with the 24mm progress rear bar will that effect the front handling in any way. I read somewhere that the front sway bar would need upgrading also to equal out the stiffness other wise understeer or over steer could become an issue.
Do you think the 24mm progress would have that effect when matched with the stock V6 front sway bar?
Also does the front sway bar of the 04-08 6MT TL's fit our accord as well or is it only the rear that is the same?

Not sure about the TL front sway bar fitting. But the 6GA is already set up for understeer, and getting a thicker rear bar helps improve upon that greatly. Getting a thicker front sway is not necessary with these cars.

People expect that you should understand their colloquialisms and incomplete information.

What he is saying is that you can use the rear sway bar (RSB) from the '04 Acura TL. That information is not necessarily true because the significantly more common automatic TLs have a smaller rear sway bar.

The range is closer to what RedRyder posted. The 20mm bar can be found on all manual transmission '04-'06 Acura TLs and the '07-'08 Acura TL Type-S regardless of transmission. For bushings I would recommend using the universal 20mm urethane bushings and brackets from Energy Suspension. They bolt up perfectly.

The 20mm bar is a great upgrade over the factory 17mm bar my coupe had. I have the 24mm Progress bar on my 3.2CL and it is almost too much. If it weighed the same as an Accord did it would probably be too much of an imbalance with the front. For the fronts I would recommend just using urethane bushings and then use aftermarket endlinks at all four corners. The OEM Honda parts are just too weak.

Also, since you're in Australia, you likely don't have a coupe. Therefore, the largest your rear sway bar could be is likely 16mm. The differences will be even more pronounced in your application than they are for those such as myself and RedRyder that have V6 coupes with 17mm OEM bars.
