question about power wires for amps

does it matter if I run 2 4 gauge wires side by side or should I step it up and get some 2 gauge wire and a distributor block?

Always better to run one wire!! The bigger the wire the better, you don't want to run two separate wires if u can help from it!

just run 1/0 and be done with it... then if your amp cant handle 1/0 buy a 1/0 to 4awg dist block but make sure the dist block is as close to the amp as possible right now i have 4awg running to a dist block then 3 inches of 8awg to my amp (amp cant hold 4awg wire)

ya +1 on one wire. i have a 0 gauge running all the way to my memphis ref. 1000.1 and it is amazing power for my jl w7!

I'll assume you have 2 amps @ 800 each. Your borderline. I'd just run the 1/0 gauge if your worried or ever plan on adding extra amps. 4 gauge should do the job but don't want to max it out from the start.

800 RMS or 800 watts max? You'll be fine with a 4 gauge with 800 watts max. If youre saying rms, you can run a 4 gauge for the bass and 8 gauge for the highs.

Im not looking to get too crazy of a system in my car, just one that sounds crisp.
I already had 1 of the amps in running to an infinity kappa perfect 12 but I recently purchased a 4 channel amp, 6.5''s and 6x9''s.
edit: so should I get:
2 gauge = distributor <4 gauge
4 gauge orr

4 gauge = distributor <8 gauge
8 gauge orr

4 gauge ============
4 gauge ============(2 side by side 4 gauge wires, no distributor)
