Just bought a used am/fm radio/ cd pulled from a 2000 civic. Came with radio code card. Installed it in my 2000 Accord LX and put in code when prompted. Everything works except I get no sound coming from the speakers. I have the dash still torn apart, so I hooked my old stereo back up and it works fine.

Any ideas??

I hope that's not the case.

What about the possibility that I need a splitter for the speakers? The two plug ins on my old radio and the one I purchased are the same. The old radio simply needs one plug in to get it to work. Could the one i just bought need a splitter for the other plug in to get the speakers to work?

what's a splitter supposed to do? there are 8 wires that go to your speakers and they have to be connected to the speaker outputs on the headunit. you'll need the wiring pinouts for the accord and civic stereo to make it work

Probably should have done my homework a little more before purchasing. The add was listed as compatible with several different years and models. Mine was included. There are Ebay adds that read the same way. For years that it isn't "straight up" compatible, it mentions purchasing a separate harness to make it work.

Having to purchase a separate harness without stating that,imo...is not compatible. I was under the assumption that this was simply plug and play. It was advertised as such for my year and model. That's on me. Not the end of the world though.

Thanks all.

Never trust what you read on Ebay (some sellers actually have accurate info). Lesson learned though, hopefully you can sell it and make a little money back.
