That is not executed well. First of all the headlight isn't even mounted correctly, you wouldn't have those dark black seems around the headlight. And whoever did that filled in where the parking light use to be, if you kept your amber strips it would look good.

Imagine this, just in white and with amber strips instead of clear.

In the end if you don't like it, you don't like it. I just think the pic you found is a bad example and could look great if done right. Blackhousing is not bad of course...but everyone has them.

^^Nice lil self-promo action there, Kriss Kross. :lawl:

Ralphie, he is absolutely right though, the example you found wasn't one of the better ones.

I know that 02_VTEC-SE also colourmatched his to his Naples Gold sedan and it looks very well done also.

It comes down to originality, yes, alot of people have done it, but it is always nice to switch things up a bit. I plan to colour match mine to Satin Silver with my next retro project.

I just tried to PS this, but im not great at the color match/replacement tool.

Anyway, the way you put it, it would probably look real good.

As far as removing the amber at the bottom, easy or no?

Honestly, idk what i want to do now lol.

I am, however, going to be doing the tail light mod where the triangles only light up when the blinker is on....hahahaha

Either way will look good, all I'm saying is think about it. I got my inspiration from the Fit - I thought it looked sporty and in all honesty, just as good or better than blackhousing. Plus it's different, I personally get tired of seeing blackhousing everywhere.

Send me a photo if you'd like, and I'll photoshop it.

Removing the strips is easy.

LOL!

Holy cow, your right, the Fit's are like that.

See i would do it, but i would not attempt to paint it myself, id rather bring the peices somewhere to be color matched, and i don't have the flow for that now.

Q-

When you do the tail light mod- they light up when you apply the brakes?

I know they run with the parking lights/turn signals.

That's a viable reason. It's not hard to do yourself though, I went to a Sherwin-Williams paint center and had them make up a spray can of San Marino Red. It was $25 (they can match anything, I just told them my paint code which is R94). Or since white is easier to match, you could go to an Autozone/Lowe's and get something like VHT or Duplicolor white paint in a spray can. That's $12 or less.

The tail lights - the way I did it, the bottom sections of the triangles and the trunk sections are your running lights and brake lights. The tops section of the triangle is off during running light/brake light modes, and only comes on when using turn signals/hazards. The effect is pretty cool, and is magnified if you use LED bulbs.

Make sense?

Hmmm..

well i also need the time to pull apart the headlights so if i do a retro then id def mess with that, but i dont have the space or time to do any custom projects like that.

As far as tail lights- the way you just explained it...is that how it is OEM?

Like i know when you do the mod, only the strips light up for running lights/brake lights....and the triangles are the turn signals....

what i wanted to know, is without modding, when its OEM, do the triangles light up when brakes are applied?

Id look myself but i have no one to help me lol and its 11pm.

Ill look in the am!

Thanks for the help and motivation guys!

I think i want to work on fogs next for sure.

Any pointers for members with white cars/black hoods?

I don't want CF...id prefer a hood painted an OEM black, a nice gloss.

OEM tails stock - all lights are parking lights. Top sections of triangles are on in parking light mode, and illuminate brighter when turn signal/hazards are activated. Not brake lights.

Bottom section of triangle and trunk sections are parking lights/brake lights.

On 01-02 coupes, I think it looks better when people paint the fog housing to match their car, adds a sporty look. I photoshopped this once for Mike (Drowzee):
