hey guys i got my system installed and ready to go. it consist of 1 12' image dynamics idqv2, 1 cubic feet sealed, eclipse xa1200 500rms @ 2ohm, and a sony cdx-gt610ui as my headunit.

I was wondering if anyone can help me set up the sub to bump at low level volumes? I currently listen to music around volume 20 (my speakers distorts at 26) with gains set to 3/4 and it doesn't even bumps (with equalizer off though, not sure how to use the equalizer yet lol). The only way to get it to bump is if i use the equalizer to put +10 low, +5 on sub level, and volume @ 25. I was just testing so i'm not really sure what the settings do yet. But any suggestion where I should start? I don't really listen to music loud because it gives me a headache sometimes but i would love a strong bass that i can feel at lower volume.

Amp remote = remote gain control. I'm not really a fan of them because for one you can really screw up something and two I've never heard a system that sounded good with it. Perhaps what you need is a good eq with crossovers and the ability to raise your pre outs for more clear bass at higher volumes. That way you can adjust the bass from the deck...and be safe.

As for the components I'd suggest some Digital Designs coaxils. They sound very good off deck or amp. I'm not trying to sound like a DD fanboy, but I'd rather suggest those over some other China product. Those RSDs sound bright as hell. Quality comes with higher price and most likely from Germany, Norway, etc.

Amp remote is the gain knob? or is it the wired remote bass level control? If its the gain knob, i adjusted the gain to maximum setting(1.2V) at my desire volume and I was still not able to hear my bass (it sounds nice if i'm near it in the trunk). I have a feeling its my sony head unit... didn't know sony was bad when i bought it a years ago.

thanks for the component recommendation. I'll do more research on those. The reason why I am not buying expensive speakers because this is just my beater car.

do you have a low pass filter inthere somewhere for your bass? idk bout sony headunits but pioneers have them builtin the sw rca which is one of the reasons i prefer pioneer, or your amp might have one labeled lpf

and im talking about the remote bass level control...because what you want to do basically is put up the volume of your bass and not the rest of the system right?

I recently discovered my sony HU has a LPF of 78 and 125Hz but I used the LPF on my amp instead (80Hz).

Indeed I only want to turn up the volume of my bass. Do I adjust my gains to the max then plug in the remote and control it from there?

nope the gain and bass volume are separate things you sent you gain before you plug remote to where you want them to be or to where its safe for the subs then you plug remote and basically just control the volume from there.
