Hey guys,
I know this might be a bad question but is the suspension/strut in the v6 sedan different from the v4?
Was looking into replacing the one blown strut in the passenger rear; would it be better idea to replace all of them at this point?

The car has 180,000 miles and is a 2001 v6 sedan

struts are all the same. most people will tell you to replace them in pairs. i've replaced just one before on a vehicle

You can either be proactive about replacing them all, or replace them as needed if you don't mind riding on a blown strut until you can get a replacement. I'd probably do pairs personally.

And it's I4. ;)

They have different part numbers so I do not believe they are the same.

2000 V6 Coupe:
51601-S80-A07 SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY., R. FR.
51602-S80-A17 SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY., L. FR.
52610-S80-A02 SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY., R. RR.
52620-S80-A12 SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY., L. RR.

2000 V6 Sedan:
51601-S87-A13 SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY., R. FR.
51602-S87-A08 SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY., L. FR.
52610-S87-A11 SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY., RR.
52610-S87-A01 SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY., RR.

2000 I4 Coupe:
51601-S82-A07 SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY., R. FR.
51602-S82-A17 SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY., L. FR.
52610-S82-A02 SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY., R. RR.
52620-S82-A12 SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY., L. RR.

2000 I4 Sedan:
51601-S84-A08 SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY., R. FR.
51602-S84-A08 SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY., L. FR.
52610-S84-A06 SHOCK ABSORBER ASSY., RR.

I would replace in pairs. Or upgrade to coilovers :banana-mario:

When replacing suspension on my v6 coupe I found out both my rears were Right side strut and one of them from I4.go figure it drove fine. say you have performance suspension and one shock blew out, you will replace just the one. But if you have a car and never replaced shocks on it I'd do pair or all four just my opinion

Yes, oem has different part numbers but aftermarket does not

hmm, I would have thought that at least the fronts would be different due to the heavier V6 engine but I guess its just different springs.

I think the difference is in the springs as well. I gave my stock suspension to a buddy that has a 4cyl and he said it was good. He had his two right blown.
