So in short, I got a new ECU and now I need to reprogram my keys for the ECU .. is there a way I can do it at home, or for cheap ? Honda quoted me $55 per key .. might as well have bent me over and had their way with me ..

You need the Honda HDS tool to do it or something of similar capability.

Try calling locksmiths in your area. They might be able to do it for cheaper.

That said, when I had mine done...I was charged $55 for as many keys as I had versus a locksmith who wanted $25/key. I had 4 keys.

Levin, when I called the dealer, he sounded iffy as to whether or not they could reprogram a new ECU to my immobilizer .. How I explained it to him was, I got a transmission swap done, and I bought a 5 speed ecu. Now, if I drive in with the auto ecu and hook up the 5 speed ecu when I get there, would you be able to program it so that my keys work on the new ecu? and he told me he's not sure .. Did I explain it wrong or something ?!

On a side note, is this the right serial number for a 99 ulev 5 speed ecu?

37820-pab-l01

That's the one I bought ..

Here is the link to the listing ..

It says it's for "98 99 00 Accord Ulev Ecm Ecu 5 Speed 4 Cyl Engine Computer"
