RPM stuck today while driving

Today I was driving and saw that the rpm was stuck in 2,000. I came to a light and it was still at 2,000rpm's and would not go down lower. I had to pull over turn car off and then it fixed the problem. I am not sure why it did that it has never done that before. Does anyone know if that could be a problem with transmission starting to go on me?? The car only has 42,000 miles.

Sticking throttle plate. Get some throttle body cleaner and clean that ish.

Def do this^^ i had the same problem on my 88 festiva and it fixed it right away

I need to do the same thing. I've had the TB cleaner in my garage for around 6 months, but I been to lazy to get around to it.
I'm of the same opinion though: sticking throttle plate
