My rpms are jumping up and down. When the car is in neutral, the rpms will sometimes stay at 1.5 and then drop to the point where the car almost dies. The car usually doesn't die, but rpms get very, very low. The car feels somewhat different while shifting. Any input would be appreciated.

Possible carbon build up somewhere in your IACV that's causing it to run rough & idle weird.

Or could be a vacuum leak somewhere, I had a vacuum leak and my rpms would jump up to 2-3 grand in neutral but we're normal when driving.

For starters, no codes? And your CEL bulb works?
Yes, the bulb works. I actually had to run a code a while back that was for Vtech malfunction. I was low on oil though and once i changed it, the light stayed off.

I'm looking to fix this myself. Any threads or videos I could look at? How can I diagnose the problem?

I would say check for a vacuum leak same thing happened with a old town car i had..it was so bad i had to hold the gas slightly at red lights to keep the idle speed up...smh so young i was

but also years prior i bought a deville this old guy owned..and one day the car just began idling at 2k rpm i had to hold the brake hard af at lights to keep it from yanking..ended up being the IACV..check that as well

mines been doing that for a few years, on and off, if i clean the iacv it goes away and so does the CEL but it keeps coming back after like 4 months, also mine will idle at like 350 sometimes :lawl:
it sounds like iacv or vacuum leak, spray carb cleaner around vacuum lines while idling and see if the revs pick up more, mightve cut a line if youve done work under the hood recently

i second the carb cleaner approach to check the leak thats how my car was diagnosed lol or a smoke test but who has time for that :karate:

Does anyone have a diagram of the vacuum lines I should be looking at?
