Yes putting a couple grand into a 26yr old Honda w/217k miles makes no sense financially, but my hopes and dreams of attaining any of my actual dream cars (’97 Viper GTS, ’03 BMW M5, V8 Mercedes wagon to name a few) are no longer realistic, between either appreciation or just general affordability due to my life situation. So, just going to enjoy what I already own.
Man this wasn't the future I had in my mind. I remember I was looking to get an NA1 NSX right before COVID hit when they were 45k or an E60 M5 6MT when they were 25k (plus anoth 25k for 6.0 stoker build). I can't justify the 70k going rate for an NSX and somehow people realized the M5 was horribly undervalued. I've been priced out of dream cars and housing now :favorites68:.

The CL-S swapped Accord and a 3G TL-S were my attainable dream cars coming out of high school, so I'm content with driving both of these for the rest of my foreseeable future.

Glad to see you striving to keep the Accord roadworthy! The Works should look sweet once they're back on the car. I should probably update my ride thread soon lol......

Changed the MTF and engine oil yesterday. Noticed considerable cracking on the inside of the driver front tire. I didn't even bother looking at the rest of them, they're all getting replaced I guess.

Power steering fluid leak sure made a mess. I should have addressed that sooner, I drove it with that issue for too long. I cleaned things up a bit.

The car went too long without being registered, so sadly I had to retire my original plates from when I bought it in 2007. The new plate is so ugly, has too much crap on it and I hate it. May look for a different option next time around.

Amazingly, all the LED's everywhere are working...

glad to hear that you are giving some love to your 6th gen :)

It's like going back in time, haha.

I think it's still a good looking car. The rear end will always be one of my favorite designs ever. And I also like that it actually has a front bumper, I can't stand how many new cars these days just have giant gaping mouths.

You said it. Not what I imagined either. It's like by the time we can actually afford our dream cars and what they costed for the longest time, they appreciate beyond reasonable affordability. And the money people want for cars with 100k, 120k miles these days is insane in my mind.

Housing market is even worse, I feel for you and and everyone getting screwed by that whole mess. All these trusts and corporations should have never been allowed to buy up so many family homes.

Keep hoping some of this stuff will return to "normality" but it feels like this is just the new norm, and the people living in this age just have to suck it up and live with it.

My wife's grandmother used to always say happiness is being content with what you have. I know that is probably true, but it is hard to feel "okay with settling" if that makes sense. At least we already have something we love, right.

Thanks. So much of what makes that car what it is is becoming rarer and rarer in cars these days, and may eventually be extinct. Definitely helps me appreciate it more.

And yes, you should!

It's been a long time since I looked for any parts for these cars. I came across these LED rear sidemarkers the other day, and it's actually a mod I had planned on doing way back when but never got around to it. All the "crazy" LED upgrade ideas/projects we used to talk about back in the day are now things you can just buy haha. We'll see how long they last, sidemarkers made of Chinesium have been hit or miss for me. The ones I bought for our Venza didn't last long at all. And one of the ones on the ATS just died after a couple years.

I had found the juicy DEPO lenses (top) to replace the OEM ones, & just used a 194 LED bulb with it. Now trying out the bottom ones which have an LED strip. The connector is loose in the plug so I need to either adjust the prongs instead the plug to tighten it up, or maybe put some dielectric grease inside.

These are advertised for 5thgens but they fit 6thgens as well.

Pics of them illuminated?

I’m debating going back to the yard where I found my bumper and grabbing the rear bumper markers. I like the look of them on sedans. While I was toying with that idea I started looking at LED strips and things but didn’t actually look into LED lights for 5G/6G accords.

EDIT: Found some on eBay for $30. They come in regular AND smoked. This is gonna be a tough decision

Got the car back after getting the power steering high pressure line replaced (leaking), power steering pump replaced (leaking & grinding noise), & while I was at it I got the clutch fluid bled & fresh fluid put in.

I pulled off the bulb plugs for the rear sidemarkers & used a needlenose pliers to squeeze the contact prongs together to grip the connector tighter on the new LED sidemarker harness. Installed them & they work great. I think they modernize the car a little, but now the front lighting looks outdated. However, I have a fix for that coming as I am going to update the lighting on the front of the car too.

Pics of sidemarkers illuminated. Nice crisp straight line.

Where rusted out cars don't exist
Yours is a clean example. I'm jelly.

Mine looks clapped out and wish she'd look as good as yours, in SSM color, of course, lol.

Did you ever repaint yours, or has been garage kept the whole time?

^I would love to sit here and say the car is practically pristine. Buuut that is not the case, sadly. There are a few rust areas, there are even more clearcoat failure areas. But at 217k miles I suppose it could be worse.

I never repainted it. The only main body panel that got new paint after I bought the car was the trunk lid when I swapped it to go wingless. The car was parked outdoors 5 years while I lived in various apartments, until I bought a house in 2012. Been garaged ever since.

That said, it MAY be sitting out this winter, just had the wife's Odyssey repainted so with the peeling paint that plagues those cars (esp in white) it may take the Accord's spot next to the ATS.

Next year I may try to tackle some DIY bodywork to mend it up a little. That's never been my forte though haha. But I think I could at least improve some clearcoat failures...
