Ok so my little Accord all of a sudden isn't recognizing either of my keys in the ignition. It turns to the on position but won't even try to start. Radio and lights work and everything. I read the manual and it says that that is the anti-theft system engaging and I prob just need a new key. However like I said it's not reading my valet key either, leading me to believe that it's a problem in the steering column. Meaning I would have to have it towed to my dealer for them to fix it. Has anyone else encountered this problem?? I'd hate to pay for the tow truck and have them year open the column to find that it's just the damn key.... Please help, friends. Thanks.

If it's a problem with the immobilizer/key it will flash the green key light in the cluster.

Try turning the key all the way to the "start" position and jiggle it while turning. It may start. If so, you're looking at a faulty ignition switch. Honda replaced them in a recall at one point, I'd register with Honda OwnerLink and see what recalls were out for your Accord.

Haha no, key isn't bent. I'm just gona bite the bullet and have it towed to the dealer. God, seeing my car go on and off those things makes me nervous. Anyway, yah Im assuming that it's the immobilizer locking me out. Anyone know if the warranty covers that?

for those inquiring minds....Honda informed me that my starter was the culprit. Soooooooo, not the security lock out at all. But it's under my warranty so FTW. Lock it up boys.
