First off, when I floor it, it bobbles in between 4-5k rpm and for a split second CEL flashes and shows up as P1399 (random misfire). My exhaust is much quieter then before and my gas mileage is horrible.

I have checked my engine oil (half way in between the marks) and I cleaned my egr port(wasn't clogged or very dirty). I filled up half a tank of chevron gas with techron in hopes that "good" gas will help but it did nothing.

Im at 57k miles.

I am thinking that the problem is a clogged cat or fuel filter(dealership book says to replace the fuel filter every 200k miles). Will a clogged cat throw a random misfire cel?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Your misfiring from either not having enough gas, which I dont think it is. Its either a spark or compression issue. a clogged cat will cause it to become very very hot...usually they glow red.

n00b question here,

what is a compression test exactly?
Think of each cylinder like a bicycle pump, u need A goood seal to pump air into the tire. Same thing for an engine, u need certain amount of compression to ignite the fuel and intern, push the piston down.

Generally, if ur not experiencing issues, compression is likely to be okay. Low compression will cause misfires in whicever cylinder because the fuel cannot ignite.
