So I'm buying an Accord owned in the family since it was new in 1999. Its a V6 EX-L Sedan.

I want to restore it to its original glory. I'm a 90s Honda fan even though I drive a E60 BMW 530i.

Part of that involves cleaning up the interior. What do you guys recommend for detailing the interior? I want to get rid of that old car, musty smell. Also the interior is 'leather' but I don't know if its synthetic from the factory.

Also I noticed that the accelerator pedal feels stiffer than I remember it being when it was newer (or have I just forgotten?). What do other V6 owners think? The pedal action doesn't feel smooth and linear. Instead it feels binary, on or off, and lots of stiffness in between those two limits.

Any other major items to look out for? The car currently has 135K miles on it and drives fine from what I can tell.

PM Turbo911 about detailing, he is the king. I use Tough Stuff on the carpets, Meguiar's leather conditioner for the "leather", and Armor all and Windex for the rest.

As for the pedal travel, check your throttle cable.

my pedal is stiff too and i have the same miles, i havent gotten to fixing it yet but its just like a break cable or shift cable on a bicycle, just remove the cable and put some shift/break cable oil in between cable and lining and try to work it along the whole thing
