basically i acquired a 98 accord lx that has jus been sitting in my uncles garage. he told me it needed alot of work done...he wasn!t kidding!

my problem now is that the srs light is on and the horn isn't working! WTF! i live in northern va near dc...PEOPLE CANT DRIVE AROUND HERE i need this problem fixed asap. i tried to get it checked at autozone but they said they dont check srs lights.

relays and fuses were all checked and none of them are blown. i want to fix this problem myself and avoid a costly visit to the mechanic (college student living solo). any thoghts?

Take the car to the dealership for the SRS. As for the horn, its behind the front bumper. If its bad its easy and inexpensive to fix.

just reset the srs light. it's a yellow connecter with two wires by the kick panel. what i do is i take 2 pins and put them in there. and i touch the two pins together. then KOEO. the srs light will flash, once it stops seperate the pins, then repeat until it either stays on or disappears (i forget). you'll know you've successfully reset the srs light when it flashes twice and turns off.

Do the SRS reset, read the code if it comes back.

As far as the horn goes, figure out if you have power at the high/low horns when the steering wheel pad is pushed. If you don't have power, then you get to trace the wiring harness all the way back to the horn button until you find power and repair the wiring. Double check the ground (I believe the horns are mounted through their bracket). Have fun, good luck.

Drivers are bad everywhere nowadays. And I hardly see anyone give "the wave" anymore.

Anyway, has the steering wheel ever been removed/changed? In addition to the above, it may be worth pulling the access panel on the bottom to make sure the connectors are in place (disconnect battery first). Also if the wheel was ever removed, it's possible when it was reinstalled that the SRS collar wasn't oriented correctly, etc.

Or just take it to the dealer.

This. From his previous threads, I'm going to say we shouldn't encourage him to try this. Especially on the safety restraint system. The horn, well thats fine go for it. No offense towards the OP, but from what I've gathered he doesn't have the know how to do these things.
