Hey guys,

Car: 99 Honda accord ex V4

I was at the gas station yesterday, car was parked and turned off. This guy in front of me hit my car slightly, moved the car a little bit. No damage at all. Car moved like it was in neutral. Anyway, after driving the car and running some errands, came back in and the srs light came on.

Now i'm not sure if it is related or not but i went to the stealership today and they told me there isn't any sensors in the front bumper so mostly likely its a seat belt issue.

I live in Canada so we don't have the lifetime warranty. I went to my usual mechanic, he reset it the srs light but came back on after few mins. Any thoughts of what it could be, i thought maybe the buckle is dirty or the switch is damaged but i'm really not familiar with this.

Thanks

You shouldn't be guessing with SRS problem. Did the dealer happen to tell you the code? There is a way to jump the pins on the obd2 connecter with a paperclip or small jumper wire & the codes will flash. If you need I can look up the pin #s.

Knowing the code will help to pinpoint the problem. Not a lot to the system in our cars. What yr is your car? Do you have side airbags?

It's a 99 honda accord. No, they've said about $120/hr to even look at it before we tell you what the problem is.
Yes, i'd appreciate it if you can look up the pin#

They are the same pin #s to obtain obd2 codes. pin 8 & pin 13. Looking at the connector with the short side on top & long side on bottom, pin 8 is the top far right pin. & on the second row (longer side) pin 13 is 5th pin accross.

Count the flashes of the SRS light, Long flash is the first digit, short flashes are for second digit. The codes will repeat.

My Haynes manual doesn't have SRS codes. But if you post the code # maybe someone with a honda service manual can tell you what it is.

Good luck.

Heres a pic of the connector.

Even so, my dealer said if It was something wrong with the blet, bags or anything, that Diagnostic fee is waived. yours is ripping you off, mine i paid nothing. Was initially 98$ but then was free with parts.

Lifetime warranty FTW.

Is this includes Canada, they said, there's only 5 year warranty on those and its lifetime warranty only in the states. I'm gonna check another dealer

Thanks man, so per example, 3 long flashes, would be first digit 3 and 5 short ones will be second 5, so 3.5?
I think i've got my haynes manual somewhere, i just need to find it too. Im doing this next week but i will also check another dealer and see what they say.
