so i did a search and came up with nothing to help me. im not too good at finding things threw search so i could have missed it.
my problem is i will go to drive my car. have a 5spd so i press in the clutch and turn the key all the way. all the indication lights and radio and everything turns on like normal but the car does not start. it doesnt even try to turn over. this only happens once in a while. one day it will be fine and start right away other times it will have this problem. some times all i have to do is turn to off and let off clutch and try again for it to start. other times i need t pop start it.

i ruled out the alternator and the battery because it is brand new. i was thinking starter but any experience i had was if the starter was bad it would never work. my problem is only once in a while

any help would be awsome and sorry if i missed an answer in my search

Look for your clutch relay to see if it works. Test it with a multimeter.

hit your starter a few times with a hammer.if it works than its your starter.
but this happend to me and it WAS actually my battery, brand new,was bad..Try jumping it off,if it cranks than its your battery.
But than again alot of people have been having the same issue and it was a relay problem^

thanks guys. i talked to my mechanic and he said it could be the clutch relay or ignition relay. i will try my battery though. thought maybe someone else had the same problem. any other sugestions would still be great.

be like it is
the battery may be new to you, but its well known that places with a lower turnaround of products have old stock (think "bodega" :lawl: )

based on the fact that it still starts, i would say its something with the clutch...like the relay. or maybe the pedal isn't going down far enough? then when you get pissed at it not starting you hit it hard enough and that tells the car to start? something to think about :lawl:

so drove my car again today and having the problem still. never had the windows down or stood outside he car when having someone start it. but today my windows were down. go to start the car and i hear the starter click. it just clicked once and then didnt do anything even holding the key there. turn the key to off and then try again and get the one click. to me that makes me think starter relay. does that sound right to anyone or someone think different?

The click is probably the starter relay engaging, but then the battery current is not being delivered to the starter. Corroded or loose contacts???

same problem i am facing right now.... happens randomly.. it's either a click, a weak crank or no problem starting up :eh:

i am thinking it's my starter, but i read ur thread and some ppl are saying it's the clutch relay or ignition relay... might have to look more into tht

i checked my connections too and everything was tight and good

if u hear it click, then the starter's solenoid (electronic) is fine. otherwise, its a mechanical problem, which is the starter motor itself. since u said it wouldnt turn over, then its most likely the starter.

try jumping it by using a wire (16 gauge is good enough) and with the key on engine off, have one end touch the B+ terminal of the starter solenoid (one that's not connected to the starter motor but connected to your battery) and connect the other end to the small bolt (S/middle terminal). if your car doesnt start, then i dont know. some people do this with a screw driver but i like using a wire or "jumper cable" instead :) gluck!

if your starter works fine, check the relays. if those are fine, hit a shop for further inspections like checking the sensors. if u can check them yourself go for it. i learned that if your crank or cam position sensor is bad, your car won't start. but im not sure lol
