steering play

ok i got a problem that i cant figure out ...bought the car like this but got in a dif 6gen andrelized that it wasnt on tha norm.....i repaced both outer tie rods and checked for looseness or tie rod play....nothing...yet wendriveing striaght i can move tha steering wheel about1-2 inches either way without car moving..alignment is good as well....im lost wat do i do

i did that whole sytem is great no leaks or color change in fluid nor foaming... nothin that i can find out of norm

im not too savvy but you have tried checking the actual steering wheel and pulled it apart to see if something could be loose? you should get a mechanic to check it out before it gets too serious of a matter.. just my 0.2 cents

i havnt tried that but its wortha shot....ive had tha car for about 2 years now...never changed ben same play sense day one...ill post my results from tha stering wheel

no problems with steering wheel... a mech. down tha road said to replace whole rack and pinion....not too expensive ...300 at autozone... now to figure out how to do it
