My ex coupe (02, cloth) has them. But, i wouldn't bother with them. I thought there were kind of cool but put my alpine in about a month after i bought the car. I have been saying i'll buy the modual but i haven't for the last year and a half. It's not even a thing where i want them, i just don't like to loose and option. I really don't think they help much though. On other cars with more functions, yeah, they are nice. With our cars, they are kind of pointless.

dont waste your time, its too much trouble for the function it performs. you probably listen to CDs too so in that case you cant even use them. my cl had them, and i never used them.

the(oem) audio control doesn't work on cds? I thought it would be the same as my parent's van even though it is a toyota.

Mine did, you had volume control. And the "band" would skip songs.

Bump for this thread since I have an 2000 EX (cloth) with no steering wheel volume controls.

I still have my OEM stereo unit with an added AUX adapter. TASauto sells the volume switch for $24 but no mention of wiring.

Anyone here pursue this fully???

I want steering wheel control with the OEM deck. HELP, does anyone know whats needed to add it?

majestic honda has the part for 19.45. gotta select 2 door EX for it to be listed (possibly more, but on some it doesnt list the part) I am going to check soon if there is wiring in my steering wheel...

sidebar, can this control track/preset or just volume?

theres 3 buttons, 2 for vol up/down and one to switch songs...forwards only.

It's such a ****ty thing that isn't not worth the hassle...you don't even look that much cooler.

And shame on you for bumping a thread this old

Better to bump an old thread than create a new one..I'm interested in doing this as well actually. I have the button, just not sure about the harness...

You would have to take your wheel off and check to see if there is wiring behind the airbag for this function. There is a main plug that is mounted under the SRS unit with wires w/plugs coming out of it that clip into a bracket and run to the different parts of the wheel for its different functions.

My guess is that the main plug in your car does not have the wiring in it for this, which would mean you would need one from an EX to replace what's there now. Not sure if an additional harness runs to the radio unit. Go ahead and take your wheel off, and snap a photo so we can see what you're dealing with. I'll post photos of mine, I snapped several when installing my new wheel recently.

So here is what the steering assembly looks like on my '99 EX coupe.

This pic shows the main plug I mentioned with the different wiring w/clips that go to the buttons on the wheel.

Should be able to judge what you need based on this.
