hate to bump this old of a thread, but just had to brag somewhere..........got bored the other night and got my oem wheel controls to work with my aftermarket head unit!!......... :rock:

Here's the proof. I left the remote in sight so no one thought I was cheating! I haven't got the audio\channel figured out yet, but it doesn't bother me bad......... :hihi:

You switched it with the Cruise buttons? Also, what does the middle one do?

no. i had the wheel turned so i could get both the controls and the head unit in the shot. the center button right now just mutes the audio. i haven't figured out how to get it to switch the channels yet, but soon hopefully.

So are you using a PAC Steering wheel Interface (SWI-PS ) or did you just wire straight to the controls? What did you do as far wiring from/to the steering wheel controls as they have a two-pronged plug interface from what I remember.....

I didn't use anything other than the standard controls. If my memory serves me, the green\red stripe wire in the harness is the wire which controls the factory head unit. The wheel control buttons are simply 2 wires, one which is ground and the other leads to the green/red stripe wire. However when a button is pressed, a different resistance value is sent out to the head unit. Took the faceplate off the new head unit and metered out the resistance of when the head units volume was turned up and down and simply switched out the resistors on the back of the wheel control to match the head unit and tada!......
