better to find a chassis ground point than use the car-side ground in the harness.

In our cars I think the radio ground goes directly (short wire) to a central grounding point right behind the radio where most everything in the dash is grounded to. I've only had to install my radio once, so I don't know for sure. But if it does then I see no reason to worry about finding ground again.

i think mike knows for sure. i was back there a couple weeks ago for the first time in a couple years but couldn't remember where it leads off to.

with the pioneer add on stuff i have, it was just easier to use the chassis.

I know when there's a difference. Today I had to ground it to the chassis in an Altima.

It all depends on the situation but when the factory has a ground leading from the harness, you're okay to use it.

okay so after all this, he ended up having the upgraded jbl system and never told me so when i pulled the radio out and saw 1 plug i was like damm. he has the jbl system and i guess theres a factory amp somewhere behind the glove box. instead of 2 plugs like i was expecting, its one big 20 pin harness. i took some quality time to solder it all up now its gonna have to be chopped :'(
