I'm about to but is it possible for someone with a scanning tool or the right manual to verify what is the normal temp on the 1998 lx 4cyl vtec accord sedan. I would really appreciate it

In a Civic I used to own, my temp gauge would be normal and then all of a sudden it would just jump from the normal range to the max range of the needle... in that particular case it was just a band temp gauge and replacing the gauge fixed the problem. So I agree- that swapping out the cluster or at least just the temp gauge portion is a good thing to do if you've already done a bunch of other work.

Or you can just take it to a dealer pay the 100 bucks for the diagnosis - they can read the engine temp... while the car is running.... That's a safer bet than really letting your car overheat repeatedly.

I'll make a list of all I've replaced so far :

- thermostat
- water pump & timming kit
- all the cooling hoses
- temp sending unit
- fan temp sending unit
- head gasket with all that goes with it

Also I've even made my fans turn once the car starts.......Im really going crazy please help anyone. By the way the car runs better than ever and there are no codes to check.

Why wouldn't you just swap out the cluster? it takes about 5 mins... your car may not even be overheating... or like it was previously suggested - have honda check the the temp when the needle shows overheated...

Is there a way to verify the cluster signal ( multimeter??) with out having another one. I cant find nobody to switch it with and by the way when it says is hot the temp in my diagnostic tool says 198 - 207.
