The mystery of the missing OBD port

Hey guys, this is my first post. I've been eying this forum since highschool. Finally got the opportunity to buy a 6th gen(98 coupe 4cyl) l. I bought it for $450!!!! And is still running. Apparently, somewhere along my 240k miles there was a engine swap(important later). So the check engine light came on (still running though) about 2 weeks ago. So I did my research on where the OBD port is, should be, might be and IT WASN'T THERE!!! However, the bracket where it belongs is.
So.. I researched to see if anyone had the same problem. There was this one person who posted on a forum, but there was no solution.
So... what I'm asking is. ..
1. Where the hell is this port?! (See pic) I'm sure it's not there
2. What are my options now? Where can I get a new one? Is there an alternative way to check my CEL?(My inspection is due Sunday)

Welcome, is the car auto or manual?

The OBD port should be right by the hood latch pull lever.

Lol ya I know, the thing is the bracket for the port is there. .. but the port isn't

I think it is up in there somewhere. They can come loose.

Is that it in the top left corner? I see gray plastic. Like I said, it can pop in and out of there pretty easy. Lay down and look up in there. I would find it amazing if someone removed it.
