It looks nice, but I would never buy a Hyundai. Why? You ask? Because it's a f*cking Hyundai, that's why! 1/2 of the people on the road don't even know how to pronounce the damn name. Hell, I don't even know if I know how to pronounce the name right (do you say it like hun-day? if so - why the f*ck did they put a "y" in there? Do they think it looks cool?) To me, Hyundai is comparable to Kia. A car that is basically going to be worthless in 4 or 5 years.

As far as copying other cars - take a look at the 2008 Accord. It is a total rip off of BMW(rear of sedan), Toyota(front), Scion (rear of coupe), and even looks kind of like a Saturn Ion to me(from certain angles.)

youre to infatuated with brand names AND this is the same thing they said about honda and toyota when they first came over and look at them now.

Not really. I have just never heard anything good about Kias or Hyundais and I've never seen one I liked the looks of. Plus their resale value sucks bawls.
I wouldn't have bought a Honda back a long time ago when they were ugly.

Resale value is not all its cracked up to be, especially in the current economic climate. Nobody is going to want to spend $8000 on a 6 year old car with 100k+ miles on it. It took me forever to find a buyer for my 02 accord V6 with 130k, and i had to drop it $1000 under kbb. My dad is having a horrible time selling his luxury car with a large resale value as well. Hyndais/Kias are very safe, reliable, have a great factory warranty, get great gas mileage and most importantly they are cheap!

Huyndai is just a freaking brand...honda is one of them also.....people have different taste.....no one can blame them..they just do what ever it take for them to not get bankrupt....just like you despirately selling your car when you need cash..so i dont mind drving a huyndai car around..huyndai this huyndai that...the advantage is mercedes suck ***..my auntie in Colorado have the one with the 2 door..she have to trade it in for a toyota van..so im sure the huyndai can beat mercedes in the long run

After I re read my above post I realized I kind of contradicted myself:dunce:
I guess I am brand-biased when it comes to cars. But really some of the only brands I wouldn't buy are Hyundai, Kia, and probably Suzuki. I'd drive almost anything else I can think of.

It's people who have zero passion for cars that buy Hyundai. It's an appliance to get from home to work to the store to home again and have no worries 'til 100,000.01 miles.

why do so many people bash hyundai? like another member before, they are a very young company compared to honda, toyota, or any of the big brands. if you ask someone about honda back before it became a "big" brand they'll tell you it sucked big time.

take the first gen accord that came to the states, this old guy said he bought it brand new back in the day and the interior would literally rot and everything in the car would shake and rattle. every company takes time to get up to pace.

also if you ask any car guy not import guy or muscle guy, a straight up car guy, no company has grown as fast as hyundai. i read in either motortrend or car and driver that hyundai was only 5 years behind honda, and i read that 3 years ago.

also the fact with copying styles. every company does it. yeah the grill looks like the mercedes. well if you remember when the 7th gen accord coupe came out what did everyone say the tail lights looked like? um....a mercedes. and honestly even look at the new 8th gen accord sedan on profile it looks like the sonota to me. now im not hating on honda, i have one but i think this will hit home better. also designers move from make to make, look at the last gen subaru wrx, doesnt that front look a lot like peugot (i think i spelled that right)?

now im guilty of branding and going with the more popular brands but you cant base opinion strictly because of the name.

also a car guy is a car guy. i prefer imports but i like every kind of car because every car serves a certain demographic. and lets face it if a certain brands car were so crappy and was doing so bad in sales how could they survive and not go bankrupt or just give up.

oh and to those that says "hyundai's always break down". have you ever drove past a service station of a euro car dealership? there's always a huge line and its always packed. now this is suppose to be the upper level of automobiles and you pay upper level prices. and it still breaks down and if you've ever had a euro car fixing is a grip. now once again im not bashing euro's. im just saying every car make has its problems. domestics, imports, euros, all have their weaknesses.

wow that was long sorry for the rant i was just sick of people hating by just looking at a name.

Thank you to everyone who has been defending Hyundai.

For those of you bashing it, that's fine it's your opinion. Try for a second though to step back and look at the whole picture.

Like someone pointed out earlier... resale value isn't all its cracked up to be. It's based on an economic trend. If our economy keeps tanking, NO car is going to have a good resale value. (In fact, if you compare percentage wise... Hyundai's resale might be better then most) It's really just based on what the next guy is willing to pay.

Yeah we laugh at Hyundai... why? We say, "The car company has nothing for us" because it's not geared towards performance, towards mods & towards tuning. You're right it's not, it's geared towards growing as an automobile company without all the gimmicks and large price tags. I think the proof is that many Hyundai owners swear by their cars and really feel they got their moneys worth.

To people who aren't car nuts, owning an expensive car that can do 150mph like cake is comparable to "men vs the expensive handbag thing." Yeah, there's no need to drive an $80,000 2009 GT-R to and from work everyday... But then you can't tell your girlfriend there's no need to carry a wallet, planner, sunglasses and some makeup in a $2,000 bag (not to mention what the accesories in the bag are worth... In fact if we extend this metaphor, girls don't play around. They laugh at girls with fake bags, fake hair etc... so if they knew anything about cars they'd probably make fun of all your eBay brand parts...lol). It's our disposable incomes and hobby that make us turn up our noses at Hyundai and similar car companies (Kia, even Saturn). But an enthusiast should respect the company for what it is, not something the company itself is not even trying to be.
