Timing Belt Replacement

Whats up guys?

I've had my accord about a month now. Its a 2000 EX Coupe, 5spd. I absolutely love it. Its in great shape and i'm wanting to keep it that way. Its got 107K miles on it, and it was due for a timing belt replacement at 105k. I'm trying to get price quotes. A local Honda dealer told me they'd replace the timing belt, water pump, and valve cover gasket for $690 Parts and Labor.
That seems reasonable compared with what i've seen online so far. What do you guys think?

sounds abt right from a dealer.. try buying OEM parts online and getting a shop to do it for u.. tht will be cheaper

If you don't have that much experience working on cars I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself. Have someone help you that knows what they're doing, or have a shop do it.

However, if you are confident in your mechanical skills DIY is deff the way to go.

I had mines done at 105K. i bought all my parts: water pump, all belts, Tensioner, New head gasket and all kine stuff on my own since i know somebody that can hook me up with buying parts on cost price. My master Mechanic charged me 400 flat but offcourse i like he's work so i tipped an extra 100. I was gonna go to Honda dealer but fk that they are charging me 1,300.

After that i ad this problem, i am hearing a really loud obnoxious noise which seem like two metal/plastic tapping on each other (kinda hard to explain). My mech said its the timing belt or the blancer thingy...idk i forgot and that i shoud give it some time to break-in. Well since i dont use my car at all, it took some time for that noise to go away.

Advice: have it replace as on time like what its says on the Accord Manual by Honda Dealer. You know why.

Yeah, i'm not confident enough in my mechanical skills to attempt a big job like this so i'll definately be taking it somewhere. I'm going to try and look around some more for shops that can do it (besides dealership) but i've had a hard time thus far. One advantage of the dealership is that they would be using genuine Honda parts, plus they said they could have it done in 5 or 6 hours.

Stealership = major rip off.
I found a Honda Certified shop in the local yellow pages to do mine. They use genuine Honda parts (I saw the guy delivering the Honda parts from the dealership). They did my tbelt, water pump, seals, drive belts, and resurfaced my rotors for around $500. They would have charged like $430 I believe without the rotor resurfacing job. They were done in around 4 - 5 hous if I remember correctly. I took it in in the morning before work, and they called me right after lunch telling me it was ready. They also had Honda - Tech and Honda Master-Tech certificates framed and hung on the wall in the waiting room. if i remember correctly, every dealership in town quoted me around $600 for the tbelt job (minus the rotor resurfacing)
