I washed her up, been adjusting the carbs for about 3 weeks now. It's not easy getting the A/F right. But I think I have it about right now, it runs perfect and purzzzzz on idle. No more dieseling and no more shakes at high rpms! Sweeeeet...

A little bit of quick facts about the car:

1971 Datsun/Nissan 240z

Also called Fairlady in Japan, first year of production was 1969. 240z's stock come with a 2.4 inline 6 with 151 hp and 160 lbs of torque. Weighing in at only 2,300lbs. The came in a 4 speed close ratio manual or a $hitty 3 speed automatic. If you are looking for a 240z, I recommend you get a 74 or below, the newer ones after that became heavy at 2,800lbs but also had a 180hp/192lbs torque 2.8 straight 6.

The 1980's version absolutley sucks due to emissions and actually lost alot of hp. The are only rated at about 130hp and weigh close to 3,000lbs. So far the poor man's MOD was to take the early 74 and below 240z and put in a 2.8 short block from a 280z 76 and up. The 180hp/192lbs torque does well in a 2,300lb car, although it probably adds a little more weight just because the engine is a little bigger. Another good mod, was to take the later 300z and take out the Posi rear end and swap it into a 240 for better launching. I personally think the car is light enough, also where you're seated, it adds weight to the rear wheels. Just IMO though....

Some people like to go fuel injection for turbo, but I tend to like the manual tuning of dual carburetors. Just the fact you dont have to deal with ECU and crap makes life a little easier, you just have to learn how to mess with carbs.

My nissan Z is swapped with a 2.8L straight 6, 4 speed manual. The engine is stock besides K and N dual carbs and a high profile cam shaft. It has a nice exhaust loop at idle from the cam..i love it!

Here are some pics and a sound clip of my car and exhaust hitting 7k

I will try to do a drive by soon, I have to take care of some bad bushings in the back. After that, Im going to go for a 1st quarter mile run. My butt dyno says she might run high 13's low 14's, not sure, but I had her going to nose with a wrx from about 30mph before I tuned the carbs.

The speedo says 160, but I heard with the close ratio 4 speed manual the top speed is around 132mph. Plenty fast for me, I like the quicker shifts and acceleration anyways. I also heard a 5 speed swap will take it 150+....
