i found an 02 accord. its a black EX-L V6 coupe. no spoiler.
the paint, as well as the body itself, as well as the headlights, are in mint condition. flawless. metallic tinted windows - i can take care of that, lol.
i dont think i've ever seen an accord in such good condition.
96k miles. no interior flaws.
asking $8,990.

of course i'd return mine to stock, and part out.
should i buy this accord, or keep my 4 cyl 5 MT?
also, i'm sure i could talk him down too. lol.
mine has 146k.
opinions, thanks.

I always loved the black coupes. But ended up with red lol.

If it helps, I bought my 99 V6 coupe for $8250 (started at $9500 - this was in 2007) w/74k miles on it. Body was near perfect as was paint, one muffler needed replaced, the drivers seat had a small tear, the CD player didn't work, and there were a couple small scrapes on the windshield and passenger window.

As for whether you should or not, are you bored with the 4cyl? Is your car having problems? The only thing you need to watch out for, obviously, is the V6 transmission. So test drive it and all that, or have a mechanic evaluate it if you can. If the transmission is good and you want more power and the features the EX-L offers, go for it.

btw mine is an auto and has been pretty solid for me, even though Honda's 4spd is a terrible transmission. 6spd fixes that. :)

i'd just love to have a V6. my accord has quite a few flaws.
dings and scratches, needs a bit of body work, my interiors rather decent.

front brakes are on the verge of needing love. started squeaking. i believe its my throw out bearing? makes a 'chirping' noise at idle. like i said, fingers worth of pressure on the clutch, it stops. as soon as i let go, it almost immediately gradually returns, and yeah.
my girlfriend has a black 01 V6 coupe. and other than her gas mileage, i love it.

cost of the 6MT swap?

edit: KBB value is $10,165.... lmao.

Gotcha, it is nice to start with a car that doesn't need the small things to get it looking good.

Even though the V6 will be slower than your 5MT, it will feel and sound faster at least. lol

The 6spd swap will cost you anywhere from $2k - $5k, just depends on which tranny you go with (CL-S 6psd is rare and expensive, 04-08 TL 6spd is just expensive, and the 04-07 Accord 6spd is common and half the price of either of the aforementioned), and who you get to do the labor. If you do it yourself, it's quite affordable.

My car makes a chirping sound at idle too...I'm wondering if it's the same problem you're having.

V6 is not slower than my 5mt. i've ran her plenty of times. she dusts me, lol.
not by much. Car & Driver did road tests back in 98 on the coupes. the 4 cyl 5MT's 0-60 is 8.1 seconds, as the V6's is 7.8. plus the V6 has more power in the higher bands. which really doesnt matter.. but still.

damn, that'd be a pain of a project. i couldnt do it myself, lol.

are you 6MT?

cause i think the chirping has something to do with my clutch...

^Reeeeally? Then one of you must not be going ballz out. lol I'm pretty sure the V6 is slower off the line, but will then catch up and overtake the 5spd. Either way, I just find a V6 much more satisfying to drive, I can't stand 4cyl engines. It downshifts strong on the freeway, I'm surprised at how much passing power there is.

Yeah I couldn't do the swap myself either. If I had a garage, the right tools, and a second car, I'd think about attempting. But I am in the process of looking into it, and I'll be paying someone else to do the labor. Someday when I swap the motor and S/C though, I'd like to do that myself.

Hmm my chirping must be due to something else, I hear it at idle and speeds below 20mph (til the exhaust gets louder).

Do it. Black coupes are sexy. And you barely pulled on my car while on the highway and my cars a 4cyl auto.

Why don't you buy charlies coupe?
