Transmission - car goes reverse in drive.

Anyone have a clue why my car went reverse when I had it in drive?
It's a 2001 accord ex 4 cyl.

I'm actually stuck in a store parking lot contemplating calling a tow truck or driving home in reverse.

Any clues?

I restarted the car and now it's going in drive.

Does this sound like I need a new tranny?

Why would you have a shop do this? It may take half an hour if you know how to take the Int. apart/
