Transmission Question

I was driving my friends 2004 Acura TL with an automatic transmission. On the Acura I noticed that the transmission shifts differently than my 1998 Accord v6 with automatic transmission. The RPM's seem to pause for a second at redline and then shift which feels smoother and seems to make the car pull harder. I was wondering what the main difference was with the TL's automatic transmission compared to the Accord v6 transmission.

Basically the difference is the TL's auto is not a meat grinder full of shards of metal. It's also a 5spd and being a luxury car, far more refined.

The 2nd Gen TL still had tranny issues, but IIRC, alot less than the 6th Gen Accord.

ok, ok.....the TL had issues up until at least 04, so yes, we have to include the 3rd Gen TL.

Well they sure did something right in the TL! My friends Subaru with an 4 speed automatic shifts the same way as the TL did with the slight pause right before redline.
