so i got my wheels in a trade a few weeks ago, and i knew one had been repaired for a minor crack... so i went to get 4 new tires last week since the others were toast due to some camber wear... anywayyyy so everythings strait except the next day my tires flat... hmm. thats annoying. i go back to the shop and they tell me that where the wheel had been repaaired was cracked again. CRAP! so i frantically look for a local welding place to see what i can find, turns out there are 9!! in a 5 mile radius!
so today i took my wheel to the tire shop to get it unmounted and the ran it to thorntons welding. this place is in the middle of the forrest, off of this tiny backroad. anyway so i see these shacks and im like ok... and i walk into one and theres two guys, one on crutches siting there. so i tell them i called yesterday and hes like bring the wheel over, so i go get it and hes like itll be 10 minutes.
so he welds it up, inside and out (the reasoon it cracked becasue the guy that repaireed it for the previous owner (whitey2kaccord) only welded the outer lip and didnt seal it all the way through) and then grinds it down and makes sure its smooth. all of that for $20 cash... he told me to come back any time with anything of that sort and hell get it done or me, he was the nicest guy in the world, so i may get him to make me a manifold for my turbo setup and also do all my charge pipes and at soem point, get him to saw my mean racing muffelr off and replace it with something of a better qaulity.
so later on, i took it back to be mounted and its all good! no more cracked wheel and im only $20 poorer!
and yesterday in the midst of all this, my strut bar made by APR came in! wooo
and heres pictures of my strut bar i just installed!
there you can see where he welded it and grinded it down on the outside
and theres a crappy view of the lip. the main problem ws it wasnt welded on the insied so it was weak as ****.
so yea, im a happy man compared to yesterday. i was so worried id have to get a whole new wheel, but thornton fixed it up good. hopefully there wont be too much of an issue with it now, and even before, the only problem was that the tire woudl deflate every two days or so...
yea, im happy
