It's an 02' Accord, EX V6 with 97k miles. Bought it at 87k and everything was fine. About 2 months ago my CEL light came on as well as my TCS light after brutally hitting a raccoon about 65 on the highway. The next day I had the code pulled and it was P0740, yet the transmission shifted perfectly fine.

Now, 2 months later, the tranny doesn't shift fine.
ONLY from 1st to 2nd does it hesitate, and if I get on it a bit, THEN it knocks.
Kind of confusing really, and it's getting steadily worse.

Also, if I'm on a dead stop going up a larger hill and accelerate, then it knocks much harder. Every other shift is fine except 1st to 2nd.

Ive heard it can be the Torque Converter Clutch (TCC) Solenoid amongst other things.

It just doesn't make sense how it can shift perfectly fine, then 2 months later its like nah screw you 1st to 2nd gear shift. :wtf1:

First and second gear is on the same shift solenoid IIRC. You could try replacing it ($50 part I think) and see if that fixes the problem. If it doesn't, I'm afraid a tranny rebuild might be in your future.

The solenoid is on the outside of the bellhousing, not sure where exactly it is though. Danny might know (Dinzdale).

Might as well try the cheapest stuff first.
ALSO, I added that the light came on soon after I pummeled a raccoon, and after I read a similar story on the google machine about a man hitting an animal also and having the same problem, I see this as being relevant.

How is a possible 2k$ repair not urgent?

urgent would be something like your stuck on the side of the road in spooky woods like scooby doo with fog and whatnot.

this is a bad problem, dont get me wrong, but not entirely urgent
