Hey guys, my best friends gf drive a 2000 accord ex v6 automatic. I had always read that the j series v6 auto trans were a terrible design from factory and had inherit problems. What were Honda/Acura's "fix" for this? I heard they just added a jet somewhere, somehow to better lubricate one gear in the auto trans, and also heard there was a TCU update as well. Do any of you guys have and good advice or links regarding the j series auto trans problem? She is definately experiencing problems with her auto trans, and I would like to help her out a little. Is there anything more than the little jet thing they added and the tcu upgrade?

Any good info regarding this problem would be greatly appreciated!

Transmission cooler will prolong the life of the transmission and easy driving. I am under the impression that the J30 auto clutch packs and poor heat dispersion is the culprit for most of the transmission malfunctions. Also, only use Honda ATF

Spend some time searching this site and V6Performance.net, this widespread issue has been discussed in depth.

Your post pretty much summed up the issue, and in better detail than many of the threads on the issue.

So....congrats on answering your own questions.
