if you would, please elaborate on why this method is much better ?

cause if you have an air sander, it takes all of 10 seconds to get nice clean polished letters,

i just took my letters off. much easier ​

What i done was just sand them down after, had a few friends helping me, also had a very small wire brush, and some paint thinner. And the results were pretty good.

Thanks man, was wondering how someone would tape them off, but sanding them down after made much more sense

i taped them. it turned out nice, but was a real *****. just sand it off and/or vasoline it. itll look just as good if not better.
