like others have said, simple green.

just be sure to dilute it like it says on the bottle. also personally i wouldn't let it sit for more than 20 mins because it will brown your plastics and hoses

Believe it or not, carb cleaner works really really well on caked on grease. I would only use it on bare metal like your tranny housing or other metal parts of your engine bay. Avoid rubber or electrical areas.

i would think so ... those stuff are strong... someone should prob try brake cleaners too.. it eats thru grease instantly!

so what parts exactly needs to be covered? the only things i can think of is air filter, distributor, and alternator. is there anything else that needs to be covered so it don't get wet?

take the battery out, and cover the fuse box in the right rear corner.

^^fuse box, yes...... just cover the battery with a big plastic bag... no need to take it out

thanks. my friend told me there's no need to cover anything, just don't concentrate spraying water on those parts. but i didn't trust myself by doing that.

You're friend likes taking risks. Better off covering the battery, intake & alternator. Don't remember if you need to cover the dist. cap.
