any data to back tht up? :coffee:

from what i know, the s2000 was created to celebrrate the new millenium.. they never expected it to continue production until 2009... with tht said, why extend production of a poor selling car for 9 years?

i wouldn't say it was a poor selling car, it just wasn't putting up sales as high as other cars in its category especially being a 2 seater convertible. It did adequate in sales, but its past and most recent popularity stems mainly as the car became more affordable to car enthusiast to maintain and modify. The market for cars like the s2000 (during its production) isn't a very big one, and if they were to revive it that same small market, they would be the only ones buying the s2000. considering throughout its 9 year life span it was only mildly altered, probablly do to honda not wanting to invest more into that it already had. If its not broke don't fix it.

However honda has drastically changed thier focus to a broader market in the late 00's, fazing out the performance cars and focusing on economical 'green' cars. so to bring back the s2k would almost be counterproductive to hondas new goals, a very different end game than the one they had with the birth of the s2000s back before the turn of the century.

Also after some light research i believe only the name was the only thing affected by the changing of the millennium as the concept and initial design started in the mid 90's. Its production was to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Honda as a company.

So all in all its a great car now that its affordable, but if it came back in todays market with a 40k pricetag it would just be an adequate selling honda model that has an even smaller target market.

^TSX = Accord in Japan. It's essentially an Accord in the US with a few more bells and whistles, thus an Acura.

Chinese police caught rebadging Mercedes as Honda to avoid taxpayer ire

Perhaps there was once a time when the Chinese citizenry couldn't tell the difference between a Mercedes-Benz and a Honda. In today's car-crazy China, however, this is clearly no longer the case. That didn't stop police in Fangchenggang (part of Guangxi Province) from performing a low-tech badge swap on a Mercedes-Benz ML350 in a bid to make it look like a run-of-the-mill Honda, right down to CR-V emblem on the rear liftgate.

Car News China reports that the police did it to fool taxpayers into thinking that the department didn't spend big bucks on a Benz. An ML350 reportedly costs around 900,000 yuan ($139,000 USD), which is a lot more than Honda CR-V, which runs around 200,000 yuan ($30,000 or so). As you may have guessed, the ridiculous (and failed) cover-up attempt by the cops angered residents whole lot more than if they'd simply rolled out, baller style, in the Mercedes from the beginning.

You're correct about the reason it was created and that they didn't expect it to run to 2009. But the reason it did run that long is because of how well it did compared to their expectations.

There is no accord wagon in the US. The last one was a 5th gen. Its unfortunately now an Acura TSX. :poke:

I would consider the Crosstour the accord wagon now.

Why the hell does a $50,000 car here cost $140,000 USD in China?

All that being said, I think a RWD Prelude would do quite nicely. That is if they left off the hybrid crap.
