What else should I upgrade?

Hello all,

I have narrowed down my suspension choice to some ISC coilovers. However, being that the car is 15 years old I do not want to cause more harm than good. So my question is: In your experiences what other parts of the suspension system should I consider upgrading to ensure that the new setup will hold strong?

I have searched for a while, but now I am really just asking for personal experiences/recommendations.

If you aren't hearing any creaking/knocking or feeling any jolts/vibrations, and if the car stays in alignment, then everything is likely in okay condition. But you should still check - tie rod ends, axles, ball joints, and all bushings/boots, etc.

Ok cool I think that is what I needed to know. There is a slight vibration in the steering wheel at certain speeds and also while stopping. So i guess I will check some things you have suggested.

While stopping = brake
At speed = wheel balance

Bushings are probably dead. Slide under, move stuff, see whats cracked.

Thanks for your response, it is awesome that there is a community surrounding the 6th gen accords that is so supportive.

On another note, since i have noticed you two are some of the most knowledgable/willing to help I have another question. It is not related to suspension so let me know if i should create a new thread.

Anyways, my car (1999 v6 coupe) keeps having intermittent problems starting, no start no crank. And the battery is showing 12.3v. I replaced the started, but problem persists. Now the problem has evolved to the gauges briefly dying and dash lights flash, radio dies, and then everything returns to normal. EXCEPT abs light will remain on.

Any ideas as to the problem? I have upgraded the ground wires to 0/1 gauge but that was a while before the problem started.

Ignition switch would be my guess, not key.

Gauge readouts dying then returning to normal operation while driving is characteristic of ignition switch failure. This just happened to me in November, it got worse quickly. How long has this been happening?

Hey Redryder,

It has been about a month or two, and ya it recently has been seeming to be more frequent. I too thought it could be the ignition switch. I did check the continuity of the switch with a multimeter and everything checked out; so def no breaks in the wires. Do you know of another way to check the ignition switch?

^Another way to check it would be to pull it out. That's what I had to do, sometimes I would get continuity and other times I wouldn't. My terminal was fried, but still sometimes letting current through. It's an easy replacement though
