what paint gun to buy

Hey all,

This is my first post, I'll get to the introductions page in a minute.

I am looking at buying my first paint gun, and I am just wondering if there are any painters in here that can offer advice as to what companies are good, and which ones to stay away from.

I found this on eBay and it seems to be a great deal, but I don't want to pay money for crap.

my first project is going to be repainting my motorcycle (2001 katana 600), but then I would also like to repaint parts of my 2000 v6 coupe (bumpers, and one fender).

I have read on my motorcycle forum that touch up guns are best for motorcycles, but the guy at my local paint supply store said that it would be very difficult for me to get good even coverage on something as long as a bumper with a touch up gun. That is why this two-gun kit is so appealing to me.

devilbliss seems to be all over ebay, which makes me question the quality, but I am also by no means looking for a professional production set up, I would be happy with middle of the road.

heck my 15$ harbor freight guns sprayed fine when i painted my car.

x2 Harbor freight hvlp FTW!!! Works beautifully as long as you have enough cfm (5-6)

this is a good starter set, i have a iwata 1.4 for my base coat, atd tools 1.8 for my primer(same price as harbor freight lol) a snap-on 1.3 for my sealer and finex 1.3 for my clear,
reason for rambling is because no matter what paint gun u get and no matter how much money u throw at it, its all about how comfortable u can spray with tha tool

That is the Devilbiss Startingline gun kit I think. It is a great starter gun but uses ALOT of cfm, 13 I believe which means you will need a HUGE compressor to keep up with it. I would get the Sharpe Finexx 3000 better which uses about 10cfm. If you are not going to paint much, the HF gun is fine, I thinks that one uses 6cfm. Just be careful because they tend to leak where the cup meets the gun! A 1.4 tip is a good all around setup for base/clear coats. By the way, nothing shoots like an Iwata! Good luck.
