its not actually dynamat that they use, but they claim its better. As for other members near me, i haven't got a clue if any live in my area ( Live in Markham, Ontario (Near Toronto)). The "deal" I was getting on the package was mostly the "sale" on the slash series that JL had on. their website is http://www.autosounddesign.com . I have always thought their prices were over priced, and if i get quotes from one person and then ask someone else, it is always different (I don't think they have a set price list) the only reason i kept with them, is because they were the closest JL dealer to me.

Other good brands that you should be able to find at a local dealer - boston acoustics, memphis audio, alpine, kicker & mtx (amps only IMO), eclipse head units (personally I don't think their other stuff is worth it), diamond audio subs. that's all I can really think of off the top of my head that you should be able to find locally

i used to have Alpine Type-R. they are decent for a decent price and sound. i love 'em because it doesn't have head banging bass but enough bass to enjoy music on road trips. if you want really loud bass, you could get Kicker. but JL is in between those 2, IMO.

Honestly, I think i've decided to stick with JL as much as I can, I just don't know which JL's to get....maybe I should just make a poll......

Check out Boston Acoustics and Infinity as well.

I would actually skip infinity if you have the money. I have infinity kappa components, 3 ways (which i don't use any more) and subs. I got a deal on everything but i plan on moving on. My speakers i've had for almost 7 years, i don't know if the new ones are better, but my subs are more like 2 years old.

I'm pretty impressed with Boston Acustics for the money.

be like it is
just get a phoenix gold rsd10d and call it a day...it shouldnt cost you more than 150 wherever you buy it from, and it will sound better than a w6. i might pick up a 12" if i ever stop being lazy and buy a new sub amp

Memphis is by far the best bang for your buck, I can go all day onwhy the memphis subs. I have used abuse between my friends and I and they do not quit. Their quality is amazing, and the price is too. I currently have 2 Mclass 12s with a jbl 600.1....the Mclass are great speakers, and in 10s, sound like will do what you need. They are made for a small sealed box for response and clarity. With that budget tho, you could get some M3s....droooool. As for amp, the best amp I have owned is my current jbl power. Its almost 4 years old and works like new. The Jbl crown series is the way to go...without a doubt.

I just heard the new boston acoustics sub (the oval one) and I was pretty impressed. You can look into ID MAX or IDQ's over JL w6's and w3's, but if you're looking to buy locally, I don't know if there are many Image Dynamics Dealers in Canada. For Alpine, I think the Type R's will be pretty good for what you're looking for, and it's not too expensive.
