Your factory headlights aren't designed to accomodate HID bulbs. Using HIDs in your lowbeam buckets makes them dangerously bright, and you can blind other drivers. Even if you take the time to aim them properly, it's still a pain in the *** for anyone coming from the opposite direction. That's why most people here will recommend you wait on your super bright HIDs until you have projectors (like in a retrofit) that are designed for the increased light output.

Most of the time I'll agree with the "to each his own" argument, but there's actually some logic and safety concern in hating on your HIDs.

actually did not know about that. so thanks for explaining. but imo the stock lights look nice to me and on the car itself. but now i understand where people are coming from

I wouldn't hate so much on a 35W HID as some people can't afford a retro, or have the time to do one. But as it is, at 35W you get

With 55W you intensify that effect. All the glare goes to other drivers eyes.

There are HID reflectors, Halogen reflectors, LED lowbeams, HID projectors.

This is a 35W VS 50W in HID Projectors. With an ECE cutoff

This is a DOT cutoff. With an available FX-R from theretrofitsource

When you couple extra light into a HALOGEN reflector You blind other drivers. Then boosting that output makes it even worse..

Ending my rant.

But you understand that you're blinding other drivers. With an obnoxious blue nonetheless. And you don't care... That's being a dickhead. Might as well drive around with your high beams on too
