well ive decided that when money allows im going to be dropping the car down as at the moment it looks like you could drive a double decker bus between the top of the tyre and the arch :(

i know height adjustable coil overs would be the very best but money is waaay tight.

So for starters i was going to fitting german lowering springs to bring it down 35mm, this should still allow me to get over the multiple speed humps installed were i live, and then get a new set of boots either 17/18 or even orginal Honda off the Accords or Type R

the question is will any of the OEM wheels fit - 17/18 on a 5 stud accord or am i going to suffer rubbing once i lower it? also which other OEM brands on a 5 stud are likely to be compatible ?
Cheers

i've never heard of someone having a rubbing problem from just using a drop spring. things like rubbing usually only come into factor once you go down to the height that only coilovers can get you to.

i would suggest not using a stock style shock with a drop spring, no matter what car it comes from, because they're just no designed or valved to be at a lower height than what they come at stock.

there are a few here that will say if you drop/lower just a little that you can get away with using stock shocks.
for my self i have 1.50 inch/38mm drop/lowered and using stock shock with no problem. but i would say anything lower than that i would look into lowering shocks.

aren't they ~6.5" wide with a ~45mm offset? And ~1.25" drop?

Should be fine.

Dunno as I don't have stock rims on the car already - 225/45/17 at the mo but everywhere seems to suggest 225 is to wide and offer 215/45 for 17" with varying width and offset, and 215/40 for 18" again varying width and offset most aftermarket are 7.5/8" wide hence was asking about OEM rims

35mm is about 1.378in, which isn't much of a drop, so rubbing would be hard to do. If you go with 17’s I’d keep the offset above 42 and width at 7.5in (definitely no more than 8), and go with either a 215/50 or 225/45 tire to keep the speedo/odo accurate. I wouldn’t recommend 18’s without a bigger drop but if you go that route I recommend the aforementioned offset/width but with a 225/40 tire.

There are pictures in my members ride thread of my car on 17x7 +52 lowered 1.5”, and on 18x7.5 +42 lowered 2-2.5”.

Honestly instead of paying money to change your suspension down the road (which you will likely want to), I’d keep saving for a good setup. Suspension is better to do right the first time.
