I've been searching for some that can connect via USB which will pass along live data to my laptop for easier monitoring. I've come across some, but I'm not sure if these are any good or not.

One I found on eBay

Some I found on e-tailer computer super store (of all places), NewEgg

Harbor Frieght, found through searching TCCoA.

Are there any other ones that you guys can suggest that don't cost an arm and a leg (I've heard some can cost well into $5,000 range) or my first born that will provide me with live data?

I've found the usb ones to transfer data at the same rate or slower then the bluetooth ones(when using a laptop).

Personally i'd say check eBay on either of these(cheapest to more expensive)
decent-obd2 v1.5 bluetooth mini (you can pair it with bluetooth to your phone or via bluetooth to laptop)
good-autel ms509(does CEL codes, some component tests, live data, readiness)
better-autel jp701(also does airbag and abs codes)
slightly better-autel md701""...""
best-autel md802""...""

I have the bluetooth plug, and the jp701 and can honestly say I use the cheap bluetooth plug more than the actual plug in tool as its easier for me to pair it with my phone and torque-app.

I have an ELM 327 mini and pair it up with torque and it's been just fine for me.
