Won't go into 3rd gear need help!

I got a 99 manual sedan and when I got it the 3rd gear would take a little force to go in then it started to grind goin in and now it goes in pops right out or doesn't go in at all. The car also has some funky looking short shifter that came with the car could that be the problem? Or is it something else, any suggestions will help. Thanks in advance.

Clutch. My cd5 has same problem with reverse sometimes.

You think so? When I had bought the car the owner had just put in a stage 3 clutch.

Examine the shifter cable inside the car and under the hood with someone to make sure it full engages. Also, consider looking at the slave cylinder might be damage. If all is fine then consider clutch or gears; hopefully not gears.

When was the last time you changed your manual transmission fluid? I had a similar issue with second gear, I changed my fluid twice within a period of 2 days and it fully cured the problem

-Could also be a burnt clutch

I don't know how the clutch would have any thing to do with the transmission not going in to a single gear. Maybe if it wasn't going in to any of the gears but not just 3rd

Fluid is another possibility too, check the mtf for debris.
