    It could be the alternator. Same thing happened to my sister's Nissan Sentra. Get it checked at AutoZone or some establishment similar to it.

    Noob here regarding fitment of the tranny

    Well...I saw a F23A for $550, but only 90 day warranty. Then I decided not to buy it. There's a local used $700 F23A1/4 tranny with 1 year warranty. 1 FREAKIN' YEAR! I rather risk the extra $150 for that warranty. Here's the F23A I was looking at.

    UPDATE: Well...the tranny is out on the driveway. The case is caked with black grease. Mechanic friend removed the torque converter and out came metal shavings? Is that normal? There was also metal shavings on the tranny drain bolt.

    Just in gears like reverse, drive, 1, or 2. It doesn't make that clunky sound in park or neutral.

    Oops. You guys are correct. I confirmed there's no CEL/MIL flashing or staying on solid. I meant to say there's a maintenance required light on oil change.     Idle is normal. No CEL, MIL is probably for an oil change. Somebody mentioned it might be a faulty torque converter solenoid. I'm going to check it out tomorrow.
