    bank 1 doesn't mean sensor.. it just means head.. on a 4 cylinder there's only one head, so a code for a cat OR an O2 sensor will say bank 1, whereas a 6 or 8 cylinder could say bank 1/bank 2... bank 1 sensor 1 or sensor 2 is for the sensor before (1) or after (2) cat.. if it just says bank 1...

    cats get clogged though, especially if the egr valve is faulty... unbolt the cat and bang it on the ground a little bit AFTER you fix the egr (which you can usually just spray with carb cleaner and use a new gasket). it doesn't cost anything to do that, and if it doesn't work THEN u get a new cat.

    i'm gonna assume you have an auto? check your tranny fluid... if the tranny cooler inside your radiator cracked or is rotted through, that's where all of your coolant went. if i'm wrong and you have a standard, just disregard this post lol

    buy a spare that's got blown rings or somethin, and rebuild it. when it's all set, drop it in... that way you won't be without your car.

    ^^ agreed. it really does depend on what you want to do. but, if you DO decide do go ahead with it, it's pointless to just replace the one bad bearing.. once you get it all apart you might as well replace all crank/rod bearings and seals. if you want some resources check out...

    my first question... is your car running like **** or leaking oil? if the answer is no, then you just solved your whole "problem". doing crank bearings isn't just a matter of dropping the oil pan and pop 'em out-pop 'em in... you're pretty much getting into a whole rebuild w/ pullin the engine...

    old engine snapped a rod... snapped rods = bent valves and seat/guide problems. got a rebuilt block.. just need a head now.

    i'm in need of a new head. i was just wondering if the f22b1 head will fit on my f23a1 block without any mods or losing my vtec.. also, is the f23a5 vtec?.. i didn't think it was, but the guy who's sellin it says it is..

    doesn't necessarily mean he needs a new motor... if the rings are blown then yea, get a new motor.. but if it's just valve train.. get a new head.

    compression tests are easy to do.. u just need the gauge and the know-how. if you're not comfortable doing it yourself, take it to any mechanic and they'll do it for you. depending on how low the comp. is and which cylinders it affects, it could be a head gasket, blown rings, or a bad head...

    ya i had looked at that one... you're right that's not a bad price at all, but i'm strapped right now... i got an extra head that i threw on for now... it'll run for the next couple weeks til i can splurge for a rebuilt.
