How about with the car sitting at stock height? I know it won't rub on the fenders but will it clear the struts when turning all the way? The 18x8.5's with 35 offset I mean.

yes the 35 offset will clear the struts

our cars come stock with 50 offset wheels

i also used s2000 wheels that come with a 55 front and 60 rear offset cleared all suspension ans brake components

But will an 8.5 inch rim clear the interior wheel well with that 35 offset? I'm not worried about it rubbing on the fenders right now since the car isn't lowered yet, what I am worried about is putting the rims on and the car not be able to move or turn all the way to either side.

it will rub but depending on the wheels and the suspension components, it pretty much will be hella flushed

I guess i'll just get the 7.5's and not worry about anything rubbing. Now with the 7.5's will they sit as flush to the fender as the 8.5's or will they sit farther in?

depends on the offset. I had 18X7.5 +30. Sits flushed in the front but the rear would flush at about ~+25

I run 18x7.5 +42 and the front is pretty flush, and the rear isn't too far off. I'm only lowered 1.5" though.

18x8.5 inch rims with a 35 offset, Will these fit my car with a 225/40 series tire without rubbing or stretching the tire? Or is 225 too small for an 8.5 inch rim? I don't want them to stick out too far either so if I'm better off going with 18x7.5.

I've even seen 9.5's stretching 205 tires on some vdubs.. anyway, Keith had 9's on 215 and it didn't even have much of a stretch. So with 225 on a 8.5.. there shouldn't be much stretch at all, if any. With a slightly aggressive drop and about -2.5 to -3 camber, it will sit pretty flush and won't be sticking out. I wouldn't recommend getting lowering springs if you're going for this setup though. It might not be low enough. I would at least get Tein Basics and you should be fine.
