Why is everyone so quick to knock Honda on this? Did anyone care to think that it comes up 7 years later because it hasn't been an issue before that?
There was a similar recall in Nov. '08 that only affected 3,940 6th gen Accords, this one is likely similar after finding that the same air bag manufacturer sent out some defective airbag modules. I'd be willing to bet that manufacturer is catching a lot of heat from Honda at the moment. My guess is that this is a voluntary recall, not ordered by the NHTSA-ODI, since the failure rate is so low. Because it's safety related it has to be recalled, even if it's not an actual design flaw and just happened by chance.
So, just a friendly reminder to check the facts before you get all worked up.
