So if all gas is the same, why did GM warn Alero and Grand Am owners of the same generation not to use BP fuel in those models? My brother who drove a Grand Am, and my wife who use to have an Alero, both got notified about it. I guess the additives by BP somehow were very different?

I own a gas station and pretty much what's been said here is correct. All you're paying for at more expensive stations is different detergents, the quality of the gas itself is basically the same. Really the prices come down to what the suppliers force each station to put their prices at. Also- any problems with water in the fuel would be from individual stations, not a nation-wide problem... at least so far.

Interesting, thanks for posting that RJ. I remember you telling me now that you owned a station when we met up in Maui. Sooo do you get discounted petrol? lol
