help on headlight sealing ---> rubber U lookin piece from back of headlight

so im blackhousing my headlights and i noticed thiss

is the black rubber thing suppose to be glued onto the lense? or is it suppose to be loose like that??

if you seal it, wouldnt the rubber be in betweeen anyway and wouldnt make a difference?

if you can see remains of resin on the lens then they were supposed to be glued down. if these are the black pieces you see on top of the lenses when u lift the hood like i thinking, then they should be glued down but it's not necessary

a word of advice u might wana go to ur local honda dealer & invest 14 bucks in some hondabond before u end up with fogged or condensation in your headlights. i learned the hard way. good luck

You must have learned the hard way I guess... because HondaBond is not the only thing you can use. Using regular silicone works just fine, or that gray goo they sell at autozone. I bet even caulk would work, but stick to silicone based fillers.

I remember taking mine apart and it looked like that rubber piece is held on by double sided tape. which wasn't very sticky. But it didn't fall off.

I used clear automotive silicone to seal it up. Works great and dries clear.
