Problem when blacking out tail lights

Ok so I started to black out my tail lights I preped it by cleaning it with alcohol twice and after I was done the paint looked faded, dindgy and had like a greyish color to it. Any ideas on how to fix this? I took the paint off so I'll be startin from scratch.

I used the tint spray that was talked about in other posts.

yea I did. it wasn't my painting that messed it up

Try using a non alocoholic cleaner

This is why we say use Tint film. Lamin-X Tint film to be exact.
