Those will sound great with either HU power or a small 4ch amp. They've always been a entry level favorite of mine.

Unless you plan on spending a hefty chunk of change of a 4-ch amp to power the Type-R's, don't waste the extra money. Seriously, If you look at the specs they just are not meant for the kind of power HU's or most 4ch amps are able to give. The 6X9's require 100 watts RMS with a dismal 89db sensitivity. While the front 6.5 comps require more power at 110 RMS and an even lower sens. of 87 db.

ditch the coaxials...get components 9 outta 10 u'll get better sound on them..if the tweeters are such a big issue flush mount them into the door panels it can give it a more "stock" look. my suggestions is this speaker setup which i will be getting when i get back into the accord game 'hopefully soon'
Phoenix Gold Components (names not much but read reviews on this set seriously)

and for the 6x9's pop these in

or
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=6391
amps to power this setup i would get

or
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=3729
this is a lil more basic setup compared to the cdt audio etc

Thanks again for the suggestions, guys! I'm really determined on getting coaxials in the front though. I really really really understand that coaxials and components are day/night difference, but I'm just sold on the idea of not having to make any holes into my panels and whatnot.

And since I'm trying to stick to one brand and not a cornucopia (I like that word.) of brands, I'm leaning towards either.. like this:

Pioneer H/U
Pioneer 6.5's
Pioneer 6x9's
JL/Alpine Sub Setup

OR

Pioneer H/U
Alpine Type-S 6.5's (I'm really considering these, since I went ahead and listened to these at my local best buy)
Pioneer 6x9's
JL/Alpine Sub Setup

Unless you guys can give me a good 6.5/6x9 combo, I think that's how my setup might be looking in the near future.

Any other suggestions?

Again, thanks in advance for all this hefty info!

The Type-S 6.5's are a great choice. Why not consider the Type-S 6X9's?

As far as a sub. I have a Alpine Type-R 10" with an Alpine M450 amp. I think it sounds great. Just a suggestion.

Hmm.. maybe I might get an almost Alpine setup. You got me leaning that way, haha.

SO how about this..

Pioneer H/U
Alpine Type S 6.5's
Alpine Type S 6x9's
Alpine/JL Sub Combo

I've heard great things about the Type-R's, but it's pushing my budget a little, so I think the JL will suffice (as I've heard good things about this too) . Hmm.. the setup looks pretty good, I hope. In terms of SQ, will this be decent for the crisp, clear, and smooth system I've been trying to compile?

Jianizzle, I know I'm a little late here, but I'll chime in and let you know I went with the Type-R components up front. I didn't want to do any major drilling in the doors, pillars, etc. either. So I picked up some extra sill panels for like $8 bucks at the dealer (TAS has them for less!) as backup, and I just mounted my tweeters in there. I'm very happy with the results.
