Do you think a 40 watt amp is enough though?

Im assuming you mean 40 watts RMS.

Yes 40 is slightly weak but it depends on the speaker as well. Sensitivity plays a big part, as well as wattage requirement. Try to avoid speakers with a sensitivity rating south of 90db.

I had Boston SL60 Components and SX65 6x9's in the rear, powered by a 450w Alpine V12 Expert amp, and the sound quality was awesome.

I mounted my tweeters in the sail panels because I didn't want to put holes in my doors.

I would've done that as well if I owned a sedan, but theres really no flat surface on the coupes sail panels.
